Fair at The Mere returns

The Antiques & Fine Art Fair at The Mere will return to The Mere Golf Resort & Spa in Knutsford, Cheshire in February.

Organisers, The Antiques Deales Fairs Limited, describe the fair as boutique in style with some 30 specialist dealers, mainly members of BADA and LAPADA

Amongst some of the highlight pieces from exhibitors are:

Four Colours, Black+White Visual Grey, Warm and Cold Yellow Sensation', signed and dated Bridget RileyRichwood Fine Art’s, specialist in modern British and contemporary art, eclectic collection, including a gouache study for the painting (right) Four Colours, Black +White Visual Grey, Warm and Cold Yellow Sensation by Bridget Riley, c1981, priced at £44,200. Similarly, from the same dealer, Crying to the Wall: My God! My God! Will she relent by Patrick Caulfield (1936-2005) is for sale at £33,800.

One of a pair of Regency period ormolu and bronzed cherub candelabraCheshire dealer, Church Street Antiques’ stand will be arranged as a roomset and will include a George III mahogany breakfront and bow-ended sideboard, c 1770, priced at £3,300; a re-upholstered Regency mahogany settee from c 1820, the ends carved with acanthus leaves and fans, £3,850 and a George III mahogany wine cooler attributed to Gillows, the leading furniture makers in Lancaster established in the 1730s, priced at £3,750.

From West Sussex comes Fileman Antiques, specialist in 18th and 19th century glass chandeliers, candelabra, lustres, antique table glass, paperweights and 18th century drinking glasses. A spotlight on the stand is a pair of Regency period ormolu and bronzed cherub candelabra, c1815, selling for £4,600. 18th century wine glasses are a popular collecting area and Fileman Antiques is exhibiting an excellent selection with prices starting in the low hundreds.
