Antique music box hits right notes
A mid-19th century music box made by Lecoultre & Falconnet of Switzerland hit the right note with a buyer in Bedford auctioneer W&H Peacock‘s recent sale when it sold for £31,500.
The box was originally retailed by Grohe of Wigmore Street in London and has a brass plaque inside naming overtures by Bellini, Auber and two by Rossini.
The box also has a side panel with three pegs giving options to change, stop and play music.
It sold to a dealer in the auction rooms against strong bidding from the internet.
