Rolex is one to watch in Suffolk sale

The Rolex Submariner watch in Lockdales auctionSuffolk auctioneers Lockdales is set to sell a rare and collectable Rolex Submariner wrist watch in its next sale on June 13 and 14.

The gentleman’s Rolex ‘Big Crown’ 6538 was made in circa 1956, has its original bezel, gilt dial and hands. The watch’s case back is stamped 56, with the serial number 145296. The watch is the same model that appeared in the James Bond film Goldfinger in 1964.

The watch has an estimate of £10,000 to £20,000.

Elsewhere, the sale also features a Liberty & Co silver Cymric mantle clock designed by Archibald Knox. It has a blue and green enamel dial, with the hallmark ‘L&Co., Birmingham 1902, Cymric.

The clock is 9.5cm high, 8.5cm wide and 7.5cm deep and has an estimate of £1,000 to £2,000.
