Antiques expert launches Restoration Workshop TV show

Antiques dealer and salvage and restoration expert Gary Wallis is to star in a new TV series, ‘Restoration Workshop‘ on the Yesterday Channel.

Oxfordshire-based Gary brings over 30 years’ experience to his role as presenter. The series will focus on him and his team on their quest to buy items with hidden potential and turn them into bespoke and highly saleable pieces for high-end interiors.

Gary said, “Certain things people will look at in a strictly commercial way, in a buy-it-then-sell-it-way,. That’s the mainstream of my world, but me personally I look at elements and I’ve got quite a creative mind and I can visualise how it could look.”

The programme was commissioned by UKTV for its factual channel, Yesterday. Phillip McCreery, Commissioning Executive at UKTV said: “Restoration Workshop is full of great characters and they’re all experts in their field. It’s the perfect show for Yesterday and at a time when everything is mass produced and easily discarded, seeing Gary’s team of craftspeople lovingly restore, reuse, and recycle a whole host of objects and ornaments is a real treat.”

In the first episode of the news series will air on August 18 and will feature Gary and his team restoring a Grenadier guard’s drum.
