This Friday 10 December various leading London galleries are celebrating the finale of the 2021 art year with the WINTER edition of the West End Gallery HOP!.
Fast becoming a fixture in London’s art calendar, the free West End Gallery HOP! spotlights new and exciting exhibitions for visitors to explore out of hours.
Visitors have a final chance to get their culture fix before indulging in festive activities, encouraged to ‘hop’ from gallery to gallery in Mayfair, St James’s, Soho, and Marylebone, with participating galleries staying open until 8pm.
This winter edition welcomes new participants across the West End including: Frith Street Gallery in Soho, Stern Pissarro Gallery in St James’s and Galerie Kreo in Mayfair.
The winter West End Gallery HOP! coincides with the announcement of the winner of the second Mayfair Gallery Publication Award. Judged by Rebecca Morrill (Phaidon, Commissioining Editor (Art), Thomas Marks (former editor Apollo), and Sam Phillips (RA Magazine, Editor and Publisher), the award emphasises the important contributions made by Mayfair’s galleries to art research and the art world’s book trade. Entries include publications from: Annely Juda Fine Art, Cardi Gallery, John Martin Gallery, Luxembourg & Co., Marlborough, Mazzoleni, Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, Richard Saltoun Gallery and Waddington Custot.
The winter West End Gallery HOP! is presented in collaboration with Art in London and London Art Week. Art of London was launched in October last year and marked the first Art of London Season with the Piccadilly Art Takeover in July. Art of London celebrates art in all of its forms and celebrates London’s West End as the cultural hub of the capital. The West End Gallery HOP! has a focus on modern and contemporary art, and for this edition the collaboration with London Art Week, running 3 – 10 December, will provide visitors to explore the ancient and old masters as well!
To join in West End Gallery HOP! visitors just go to www.mayfairartweekend.com to download the map (available 2 December), or turn up at one of over 30 galleries from 5pm where maps are distributed showing them all the open venues across the West End. Your map is your passport – no need to book in advance for your visit.
