Signed John Lennon book is the write stuff
A signed copy of John Lennon’s book In His Own Write has an estimate of £2,000-£2,500 in an upcoming Gloucestershire sale.
Lennon’s collection of illustrated series of humorous and surreal poems, short stories and observations on life was first published by Jonathan Cape in March 1964. The book in the sale at The Cotswold Auction Company is a hardback example, which was a reprinted version from April 1964.
It was originally given to the vendor’s son as a 21st birthday present. It is signed by both John Lennon in blue biro and his first wife, Cynthia Lennon, in red biro.
Auctioneer Liz Poole said: “Interest in signed Beatles memorabilia is always strong and this signed John Lennon book is likely to be no exception. Beatles fans will be familiar with John’s surreal sense of humour from songs such as I Am The Walrus from the Magical Mystery Tour album.”
The book comes with an unsigned copy of John Lennon’s A Spaniard in the Works from 1965.
The sale takes place on February 4.
