Cheffins hosts over 40 specialist fine art, furniture and jewellery auctions throughout the year. The valuation days will take place every other month and will offer residents of Newmarket and the surrounding area a non-biased appraisal of jewellery, silver, watches, collectibles, ceramics, glass, memorabilia, paintings and other antiques, with no prior booking necessary.

Cheffins has a long-standing relationship with the National Horseracing Museum and has had multiple market-leading sales of sporting art over previous years, with recent successes including the Peter Tillemans oil painting of King George I on Newmarket Heath sold back in 2020 for £125,000 as well as a number of other works by the likes of John Wootton and Sir Alfred Munnings. In addition, Cheffins has become a popular auction house with the horseracing industry, with a number of sales for well-known figures within the sport, including an auction of trophies, prizes and memorabilia for Frankie Dettori in 2023.

Martin Millard, Director, Cheffins, commented : “These valuation days regularly unearth some of the most exciting finds to come to auction, often with family heirlooms, which have been gathering dust for decades resulting in multi-thousand pound sales. Visitors will have the chance to find out what their belongings are worth, and if they wish, consign them for sale at Cheffins, all within the wonderful surroundings of the National Horseracing Museum.”

Tracey Harding, Director of the National Horseracing Museum, said: “We are delighted to be hosting valuation days at the Museum so that members of the public can come along and have their prized possessions valued – perhaps this will unearth rare family heirlooms, racing memorabilia and treasures that people never knew they had.”

Cheffins hosts a number of valuation days throughout year in a variety of locations including Thornham Village Hall in Norfolk, Cheffins’ Saffron Walden Office and at the firm’s salerooms in Cambridge.

The valuation days will take place on March 19, April 16 and June 18, from 10am-3pm, with further dates planned for the second half of the year.
