Boba Fett helmet set to star in sale
A replica helmet of one of the most memorable characters in the Star Wars franchise, the bounty hunter Boba Fett, is set to sell in an upcoming entertainment and memorabilia auction.
The rare and sought-after helmet was owned by the actor who played him, and much of the success of the character comes from the portrayal of Boba Fett by the late British actor Jeremy Bulloch (1945-2020). It was the role for which he was most celebrated in a career of over 40 years.
The character reappeared in The Mandalorian and is so popular he has a cult following and his own dedicated fan club.
Now Bulloch’s personally owned scale replica of Boba Fett’s iconic helmet, licensed by Lucasfilm, is up for auction at Ewbank’s in Surrey on February 28.
Signed on the top by Bulloch in green ink, it carries the character’s name and is numbered 1/500. It was presented to Bulloch as the first in the replica series. It comes with an original Certificate of Authenticity and auction COA, as well as an Estate of Jeremy Bulloch Auction Catalogue. The original outer boxed is labelled ‘No1 – JB ‘.
This helmet is believed to be the first prop replica helmet Bulloch ever signed. A Post-it note from Bulloch’s agent is included on the outer box, stating this fact. The fibreglass helmet has a moving rangefinder and is hand painted.
The plan was to make a line of 500 of these helmets, but it is believed that only two were ever completed. It comes directly from the Estate of Jeremy Bulloch Auction and carries hopes of £3,000-5,000 in live online bidding on February 26.
