BADA backs antiques conference
As the UK’s original trade association for the fine art and antiques community, BADA are delighted to show their commitment to the industry’s rich heritage by supporting The University of Leeds’ Antique Dealer Project Conference.
The two-day conference, entitled ‘The British Antiques Trade in the 20th Century – A Cultural Geography’ takes place April 14th to 15th, and will be held in the delightful setting of Temple Newsam House, Leeds, a Tudor-Jacobean country house set within 1,500 acres of parkland landscaped by Capability Brown.
The conference is the culmination of a 32-month research project at the University of Leeds’ Centre for the Study of the Art & Antiques Market, led by Director Dr Mark Westgarth, and funded by the AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council).
Highlights of the event will include Academic papers from the project team, talks by well-known figures from the world of antiques and guided behind the scenes tours of Temple Newsam House. Conference fees also include lunch on both days and an evening wine reception with music accompaniment from the historical musical instruments at Temple Newsam House.
Speaking of the associations support for the conference, BADA CEO Marco Forgione said, “BADA was founded in 1918 so, in many ways, the story of the British Antiques Trade in the 20th Century is the story of BADA and its members.
“Mark and his team at the University of Leeds have a tremendous passion for the antiques trade and I am very much looking forward to the conference and learning more about their fascinating research.”
