Paper-crafted Regency dress in charity sale

Fine artist Stephanie Smart will be offering a number of her imaginative pieces crafted painstakingly from thousands of pieces of paper at The Cotswold Auction Company’s upcoming Vintage Fashion, Textiles and Decorative Arts sale on November 1 in the fitting Regency town of Cheltenham.

Inspired by fashion pieces she has had the chance to admire in museum archives up and down the country, the collection has had featured exhibitions including at the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, and is now offered for sale for the first time at auction.

The lots on offer include a number of full-size outfits, as well as numerous accessories, each embellished with hours of careful quilling. 

 Costume cataloguer  at The Cotswold Auction Company, Jenny Low, said: “We are delighted to have the chance to offer the first of Stephanie’s amazing creations on the open market! We expect lots of interest at the public viewing before the sale.”
