Ardbeg whisky is star of sale

A series of four Ardbeg single malt Scotch whiskies all bottled from the same batch at different ages is among the stars of The Cotswold Auction Company’s next whisky sale in Cirencester on September 10 and 11.

‘The Young Ardbeg Path to Peaty Maturity’ comprises four bottles, Very Young, 58.3% volume, Still Young, 56.2% volume, Almost There, 54.1% volume, and Renaissance, 55.9% volume – all distilled in 1998.

The four were bottled in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008 respectively. Sold as a set, they carry an auction estimate of £600 to £800.

Saleroom manager Niall Fry said: “This is a very unusual set of four Ardberg whiskies at different stages of maturity. Vintage whisky is a growing market, and we are keen to hear from anyone who is interested in entering their collection into a future sale.”
