James Bond memorabilia will light up sale

Ewbank’s in Surrey will sell an iconic piece of James Bond filmset memorabilia in their September 12 auction: producer Cubby Broccoli’s 007 Stage light that hung at Pinewood Studios.

The Albert R. Broccoli 007 Stage was built at Pinewood in 1976 for the Bond movie The Spy Who Loved Me, starring Roger Moore, and was later used to film scenes for Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Da Vinci Code and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

This was the electric sign that lit the way at the entrance, later being replaced when the stage was updated.

Made from Perspex with a metal casing and measuring 17½ x 37 x 4 ins (44 x 94 x 4 cm), it is expected to sell for £2,000-3,000.

The sign is among numerous highlights in Ewbank’s latest specialist 007 auction. The Surrey auction house has been running dedicated Bond sales for several years, recently selling a substantial part of the collection of Steve Oxenrider, arguably the world’s leading James Bond collector, whose holdings grew to thousands of items over nearly 60 years.
