Speakers at Antiques for Everyone
Antiques Collecting columnist, writer and broadcaster Marc Allum has joined the Antiques for Everyone team of celebrity speakers for the forthcoming fair, taking place from 21st to 24th July.
Based in Wiltshire, Marc is the author of Allum’s Antiques Almanac 2016 has been a miscellaneous specialist on the BBC Antiques Roadshow since 1998.
He has appeared on numerous television and radio programmes and is an informative and entertaining speaker. Marc regularly writes for mainstream magazines and is an author, columnist and antiques consultant. He has his own unique style – with a grounding in the auction world from his mid twenties – and has diverse interests ranging from pre-history to modern design. As a self-confessed ‘collectaholic’ he has a passion and reputation for divining the unusual. He explains, “A desire to connect with history through the interpretation and pursuit of objects and their origins.”
The title of Marc’s talk will be The Anatomy of Collecting – Anecdotes and Fascinating Facts and will take place on Saturday 23rd July at 3pm.
Other celebrity experts taking place in the event’s Talks Programme are BBC Antiques Roadshow experts, Judith Miller and Will Farmer who will be sharing their advice and top tips on what’s hot in the current market.
The times for the talks are: Judith Miller Thursday 3pm; Friday-Sunday 1pm; Will Farmer Friday-Sunday 4pm; and Marc Allum Saturday 3pm.
With exhibits totalling more than £10 million, Antiques for Everyone takes place over four days at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. The fair offers more than 200 specialist dealers, divided between two separate sections, with prices ranging from less than £20 to more than £20,000.
