Open book for golf fans
With the world’s leading golfers now converged on the rugged west coast of Scotland and The Open in full swing, fans of the sport might be tempted to tear themselves away from all the action on the green to snap up a lot in Cheffins Auctioneers sale this week.
The Cambridgeshire auction house is holding its Library Sale this Thursday 14th, which includes a rare book entitled, The Golf Greens of Scotland.
The large oblong folio in original cloth includes 20 plates of watercolours and etchings of famed Scottish golf courses. With etchings by George Aikman and water colour drawings by John Smart, the folio was published in 1893 and includes images of Troon.
The book has an estimate of between £3000-£50000.
