African artefacts in sale
Items from the family collection of the late celebrated paleoanthropologists and archaeologists Louis and Mary Leakey are due to go under the hammer at The Cotswold Auction Company towards the end of this month.
The Leakey’s gained international renown for their work in Kenya and Tanzania that demonstrated that humans evolved in Africa.
The sale, which takes place over two days on October 25th and 26th, will feature 70 lots, ranging from fossils and animal skulls, to pottery, beadwork and jewellery. The lots have various estimates, with many of them below £50.
The collection is being sold by relatives Leakey’s late daughter-in-law Janet Brooke-Leakey.
