New York’s Swann Auction Galleries is to sell the Harry C. Meyerhoff Collection of nearly 200 spectacular posters and ephemera in the first auction devoted entirely to Alphonse Mucha and his circle.
Scarce offerings include original drawings, many of which Swann Galleries have identified as sketches for the famous Documents Décoratifs and Figures Décoratifs, as well as myriad posters in excellent condition that rarely come to auction. There are even chocolate boxes. Also in the sale are works by Eugene Grasset, Adolfo Hohenstein, Henri Privat-Livemont and Henri Toulouse-Lautrec.
The auction of works by the master of Art Nouveau will take place on January 26th.
