Watch parts sale success
Watches and watch parts were in demand at Fellows’ recent sale, achieving a hammer total of just shy of three times the bottom estimate.
Highlights from this sale include a litany of watch tools. Destined for the scrap pile, various horology equipment such as pressure testers and case tools took the saleroom by storm. Lots worth particular note were a Rolex case tool, entered to sale with an estimate of £100- 150 it went on to achieve a hammer price of £1,000, and a Rolex pressure tester, which sold for £1,500 on an estimate of £80-120.
These tools made up a significant section of the sale and helped to contribute to the hammer total of £202,000. The sale saw a sold rate of 94%.
It wasn’t only the watch tools that shone through, with watches from Cartier, Breitling and Rolex all selling well, as did a range of pocket watches.
