Vintage fishing items set to fly
A collection of vintage fishing items formed by a couple in Nova Scotia in Canada from the 1960s onwards looks set to reel in bidders at Somerset auction house, Lawrences.
The pair fished for Atlantic salmon and were lifelong members of the Atlantic Salmon Association, fishing in the St Mary’s and Margaree Rivers in Nova Scotia. The collected rods and reels locally but also bought items in the US and UK through specialist dealers, auctions and friends.
The collection will be sold in 25 lots and includes a large number of vintage Hardy fishing reels and rods and other high quality makers of fishing equipment. Estimates range from £50-£300.
Lawrences Auctioneer Simon Jones said, “This is a fine quality collection, lovingly put together over many years. It was felt by the family that the collection would attract more interest in the UK and we are delighted to be offering the items on behalf of the family.”
The sale is on May 18 as part of a Collectors and Sporting Sale.
