Original Salvador Dali works in Surrey sale

Original works by Salvador Dalí (1904-89) are expected to lead the Contemporary Art auction at Surrey auction house Ewbank’s on October 26.

The leading exponent of Surrealism – one of the most sought-after artists in the world – created the first piece, a 24 x 33cm study for Studio Imaginaire, around 1949. In pen and ink on paper, and signed Dalí lower right, it comes with a signed certificate issued by Nicholas and Olivier Decharnes confirming that the work is registered in the Archive Decharnes, the world’s leading authority on Dalí.

The works are estimated at £10,000-15,000 each.

“These two exceptional pieces show Dalí’s unusual genius and come with the best provenance his works can have,” said specialist Will Parker. “We expect a great deal of interest in them when it comes to bidding.”
