Rolex Daytona is one to watch in Essex sale

A rare Rolex wristwatch could be one to watch for canny investors in an upcoming sale at an Essex auction house this month.

With high-value watches and jewellery proving to be potentially robust investment choices, a 1970s Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Reference 6263 would attract interest in Stacey’s Auctioneers and Valuers’ Specialist Jewellery sale on May 23.

The watch, which is a manual chronograph complete with original box and all paperwork, was originally bought for £200 in Epping and has an estimate of £20,000 to £30,000 in the sale.

Auctioneer Mark Stacy commented: “We have had so much interest in this rare Rolex already with watch collectors and connoisseurs worldwide contacting us. Rare high value watches are increasingly being seen as an excellent investment and ones like this come up for sale very rarely these days.”
