Wayne Rooney signature could score in sale
Ex-England international and former Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney is one of the footballing stars of the show at John Nicholson’s July 29 auction in Surrey.
His signature appears alongside a host of other Manchester United stars, including Rio Ferdinand, on the detached bonnet of a red Ford Mustang emblazoned with the team’s livery. The unusual item carries an estimate of £300-500.
The Scottish football coach and former payer Duncan Ferguson played for four major clubs in his 17-year career, including Dundee United, Rangers, Everton and Newcastle United. He also served as interim manager for Everton twice, in 2019 and again 2022. This sale includes a number 9 Everton shirt signed by Ferguson and priced at £200-300.
One of the more unusual lots is a poker table signed by former Southampton United, Chelsea, Fulham, Manchester City, West Ham United and England player Wayne Bridge, who made over 150 Premier League appearances as a left back. The estimate is £600-800.
Completing the sporting highlights is a signed, mounted, and framed boxing glove belonging to the late Henry Cooper. Presented with two photos of the great British champion – one showing him in the ring having knocked down Muhammad Ali – it is guided at £200-300.
