Clarice Cliff Bizarre vase in Oxfordshire sale

A 1930s abstract vase from the Bizarre range by Clarice Cliff, decorated in blue in the Latona Dahlia design has an estimate of £300-£500 at Oxfordshire auction house Mallams’ Modern Living sale in Cheltenham on August 16.

The Staffordshire-born and bred designer made her name with the brightly-coloured range of Art Deco pottery she designed in the 1920s and ’30s.

Elsewhere in the furniture section of the upcoming sale, an Arts & Crafts, mahogany framed firescreen designed by William Morris has an estimate of £200-£400. With inset embroidered ‘Rose and Olive’ panel, the item comes from the property of a gentleman from a period Winchcombe Town House.

Devotees of Mid-century furniture will be excited by an Indian rosewood ‘Helix’ sideboard, designed by David Booth and Judith Ledeboer for Gordon Russell Ltd., which has an estimate of £500-£800.
