Country House sale in Dorset
Dorset auction house Charterhouse said items included in its next sale are giving the auction room a distinctly country house feel, with the residual content from an old Dorset manor house set to go under the hammer later this month.
Auctioneer Richard Bromell, “This auction takes me back to my childhood as my parents regularly dragged me around country house auctions. The salerooms look fantastic filled up with rugs, furniture, old master paintings, ceramics and books.
Some of the highlights from the sale include:
A large Victorian stripped elm kitchen dresser with an estimate of £300-500
A Victorian silver cigar cutter in the form of a pistol, estimated at £1,200-1,500
A large oil painting, a copy of The Adoration, carrying an estimate of £2,000-3,000
A 5-foot bronze Buddha, estimated at £8,000-10,000
A tiny Chinese yellow jade water buffalo, at just 4.5 cm wide, estimated at £3,000-5,000.
The sale takes place on April 19 and 20.
