Strong demand in Suffolk auctioneers recent sale
Suffolk auctioneers Lockdales‘ recent Coins & Collectables sale saw strong demand, according to the auction house.
Daniel Daley, Managing Director of Lockdales commented after the sale, “We had some lively bidding in our recent coins and collectables sales, with international interest. It’s good to see that, particularly with medals and coins the market remains buoyant and strong demand is there.”
The wide-ranging auction encompassed categories such as coins, medals, militaria, postcards, banknotes and tokens.
In total, the auction raised £378,000, with some of the leading lots including:
- A Boer War silver Officer’s Campaign water heater with candle, hallmarked A.B. Sns. London 1900. Sold for £400.
- A brass model of a pneumatic bomb thrower, engraved with the words: ‘Pneumatic Bomb Thrower invented by E. A. Hood, Chief Art: Engr During the Great War A.D. 1916’. Hammer Price £380.
- A Colt London .35 calibre navy pistol, manufactured in London in 1854 at the start of the Crimean War. Sold for £1,200.
- A Derby County Football League Division 2 Champions 9ct gold medal and gold chain awarded to the team’s goalkeeper, Leslie Green. Engraved on the reverse: ‘Season 1968-69 Les Green D.C.F.C‘. Hammer Price £1350.
