Successful virtual valuation day for Fellows
Birmingham auctioneers Fellows held their first virtual valuation day in April and over 50 people joined the six valuers from across the globe.
The auction house said the valuation day proved very successful, with over £75,000 worth of watches, jewellery and designer handbags were appraised throughout the day.
People joined specialists remotely from the comfort of their own homes, some from as far afield as Asia, all while getting a glance behind the curtain of the specialists’ lives and homes too.
Using the video software, those interested were able to have a private, confidential video chat one-to-one with Fellows’ specialists who provided valuations on their items of jewellery, watches and designer accessories.
As with Fellows’ standard valuations, this service was offered free of charge. The appraisals operated in the exact same manner as if they were face-to-face.
Fellows said they have already received amazing feedback from customers who took part in the first valuation day. Alexandra Whittaker, the project’s lead, said, “We are thrilled with the amount of people who were interested in our first virtual valuation day. It was a huge success and the specialists at Fellows all pulled together to provide a fun day with lots of items consigned. We are able to offer our customers a service for free which is no different to a face-to-face valuation. Hopefully more customers in the future use this service as we continue to consign lots more beautiful items to our auctions.”
The high-demand of the first valuation day provided a boost for the independent, family-run business who are now offering virtual valuations at a time to suit their clients.
