Bond memorabilia set to shake the market
An original pen sketch of the Spectre headquarters from the film Thunderball is the star lot at Woolley and Wallis’ upcoming Bond sale to coincide with Daniel Craig’s fourth outing as the world’s best-known spy.
The sketch is by Ken Adam OBE (b.1921) who was a production designer on sets for Bond films in the 1960s and 70s. Spectre was first introduced in the 1965 film Thunderball starring Sean Connery, the first actor to play Bond in a feature film. The headquarters house the criminal syndicate and terrorist organisation known as Spectre – Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion. Estimated at £1,000 – 1,500 the drawing will be sold with two letters from Ken Adam and a signed photo.
The sale on October 21 will also include six James Bond promotional photographs, each signed by the actors Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig with an estimate of £500-1000.
Three posters of Everything or Nothing, The Living Daylights and The Spy Who Loved Me have estimates of £250 – 350.
Spectre is released on October 26. The 20th Century Design sale takes place at Woolley and Wallis’ Salisbury saleroom.
