Halls plans regular niche market auctions
Fine Art auctioneers Halls of Shrewsbury is aiming to provide sellers and buyers with regular niche market auctions during 2016.
The company, which has two salerooms in its Battlefield headquarters, said it is responding to emerging market trends with its New Year auction programme.
Antiques combine with design and contemporary furniture and furnishings for a March 2nd auction, and with works of art and design pieces on July 6th and September 28th.
“The Felix Dennis estate auction this autumn demonstrated that the market is very positive towards traditional antiques, modern design and contemporary works being mixed together in the same auction, which mirrors how people now present pieces in their homes,” explained Halls’ Fine Art Director Jeremy Lamond.
There will also be other standalone auctions for toys (June 1st and September 21st), Asian art (May 11th and November 9th), collectable ceramics (May 18th and November 16th), militaria (August 10th), tribal art (October 19th), pictures (January 27th and August 31st) and books (January 20th, April 6th and November 2nd).
The popular fine pictures, silver and jewellery auctions will be held on March 16th, June 22nd and October 26th. A special Valentines interiors and jewellery auction is planned for February 10th, just in time for Valentine’s Day, when period, design and fashion jewellery will be going under the hammer.
Toys and militaria combine for an auction on February 17th and the annual Christmas collective auction will be on December 7th. Slotting into the programme between the specialist sales, will be fortnightly interiors auctions.
“The auction programme has been designed in response to market trends and feedback from people who use our salerooms,” added Mr Lamond. “There will be three dedicated books auctions and our consultant Chris Moore will be hosting more free valuation days following the success of this section during 2015.
“It promises to be an interesting and exciting year for the fine art team and everyone associated with our auctions, which now attract a growing global audience.”
