Chiswick auction in tune with buyers

The recent sale of Musical Instruments at Chiswick Auctions proved successful, with a number of key pieces selling well.

The auction’s star lots included:

A full sized French Mirecourt cello (left), labelled Buthod luthier, Eleve de S.Vuillaume a Paris, late 19th century. Second label is by Frank Ainley, Edinburgh for reparations and restoration in 1925. The lot sold for £3,720 (including buyer’s premium).

A French violin (right) labelled The Corrodus  1890. This instrument is in excellent playing condition.

The violin sold for £1,740 (including buyer’s premium).

Lot 75 was a good French, Mirecourt violin (left). Labelled Luthier Moderne Louis Genin Luthier 1906 No158.

The violin sold for £960 (including buyer’s premium).

A very early violin, possibly Pamphillon circa 1700, with a beautifully carved scroll (right) and two piece-back yellow brown varnish, sold for £1,140 (including buyer’s premium).

Lot 82 (left) was an interesting 18th century violin of Carcassi School. The instrument sold for £1,920 (including buyer’s premium).

An English viola, made and labelled ‘Arthur Richardson 1950 No 95’ (right) was sold for £1,740 (including buyer’s premium).

An English viola, made and labelled ‘Wilfred. G. Sounders 93 Julian Road West Bridgford Nottingham’. It sold for £2,160 (including buyer’s premium)
