Philips announces autumn auctions for Hong Kong
Phillips has announced its autumn season of sales in Hong Kong, taking place from 27th to 29th November, introducing the company’s first auctions of Art, Design and Jewellery in Asia.
Edward Dolman, CEO and Chairman of Phillips, said, “Our Asian headquarters in Hong Kong are crucial to the development of our global business and these auctions mark a notable stage of our growth in one of the art market’s most important regions. Our auctions in London and New York are welcoming record numbers of collectors from Asia, so it is exciting to be able to present the Phillips platform in Hong Kong, where we can engage with both new and existing clients.”
Jonathan Crockett, Head of 20th Century and Contemporary Art & Deputy Chairman for Phillips Asia: “Over the past few years there has been a continued growth of demand in Asia, as well as a sea-change in the buying habits of Asian collectors. Today’s collectors are interested in art from all around the world, independent of its origin, and so we’re particularly excited to launch with a completely fresh approach to what we present in this sale, removed from traditional constraints. We will offer international modern and contemporary art, together with selected pieces of important design and photographs; with paintings by Lee Ufan and Roy Lichtenstein, and important design pieces by Alessandro Mendini and Shiro Kuramata. Each and every work has global appeal and would sit comfortably in an auction at any of our main salerooms, in Hong Kong, London or New York.”
