Cothay Fair cancelled
The organisers of the Cothay Manor fine art, decorative and antiques fair have cancelled this month’s three-day event.
The 15th fair at the historic house in Somerset on May 19-21 has been pulled due to numbers.
Events organiser Brian West said, “It’s a real shame to have to cancel the fair but we are a relatively small organiser compared to some of the bigger outfits. It really came down to not having enough time to ‘press the flesh’ and drum up the support that the fair warranted.”
Said to be the finest example of a small medieval manor in England, Cothay dates back to the 14th century, and has been lovingly restored with period furniture and fabrics by the current owners.
Last year Haughton International Fairs cancelled its annual ‘Art Antiques London’ – fair due to take place in late June – in the face of “adverse market conditions and rapidly rising costs”.
