Macca’s Aston Martin makes a million
It originally cost £3,800 10s and 0d, plus £793 of Purchase Tax back in the summer of 1964. Now Paul McCartney’s Aston Martin DB5, bought as a treat to himself before heading off on the Beatles’ tour of the US at the height of Beatlemania, has sold for £1.345m at Bonhams.
Originally ordered in Sierra Blue with black leather interior and electric aerial, the car was given a restoration in 2017, bringing it back to concours standard, including a change of colour to silver.
