Explore Tissington Hall with Fellows
Fellows Auctioneers is collaborating with Historic Decoration to offer an insight into the architecture of Derbyshire’s country houses at Tissington Hall – in the picturesque Peak District.
Situated just north of Ashbourne, Derbyshire, the early 17th-century Jacobean house has presided over the beautiful village of Tissington for 400 years.
This is set to be a day of architecture and social history including a lecture from an architectural historian and a private tour by one of the descendants of the original builder.
Tickets are priced at £120 for the full-day event, which takes place on Tuesday 17th May.
Starting at 10am and ending at 4pm, tea, coffee and lunch will be offered at the event where Sir Richard FitzHerbert will conduct a private tour of his beautiful ancestral home.
In the morning Oliver Gerrish of Historic Decoration will explore the most historic and picturesque houses in Derbyshire from the medieval times to early twentieth century.
Tissington Hall has a rich history dating back to the eleventh century and is still an important part of the local community to this day. Situated in an idyllic estate village, the house is home to some wonderful paintings, as well as attractive oak-panelled rooms, and a scenic garden.
Fellows Auctioneers has an extensive event calendar in 2022. A riveting talk on the life of Lady Margaret Beaufort by Dr Nicola Tallis took place at the auction house’s Mayfair premises in March 2022 and several more talks and tours will take place by the end of the year.
Alexandra Whittaker, PR & Communications Manager at Fellows Auctioneers, who is behind the event, said: “Tissington Hall is a stunning setting for this event – it is a historic piece of architecture located in beautiful grounds. It is perfectly fitting that we will be exploring the history behind this and other beautiful Derbyshire buildings.
“We are proud and excited to collaborate with Historic Decoration on this event. As well as an exciting talk, it is such a special opportunity to have a private tour of this elegant house. It is a must for anyone interested in historic houses and historic interior design.”
