Winston Churchill collection in London sale

An extensive single-owner collection of items and memorabilia relating to wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill will go under the hammer at London’s Special Auction Services this month.

The collection, numbering some 3,000 items, was amassed by a late carpenter from Enfield named Keith Routledge.

Mr Routledge had a 30-year fascination with the celebrated political leader and even turned the loft in his family home into a museum to house his growing collection of Churchilliana. He was a regular at fairs, auctions and antique shops across the UK and Europe, searching out Churchill-related pieces.

Items from his Winston Churchill collection will be included in the auction house’s sale from August 9-10, with further pieces to be offered later in the year.
