Tiffany to light up Cotswolds Fair
A fabulous Tiffany lamp will be among the many superb antiques and works of art going on sale at The Cotswolds Decorative Antiques & Art Fair at Westonbirt School, near Tetbury, Gloucestershire from 31st March – 2nd April.
American designer Louis Comfort Tiffany produced the richly decorated lamps, vases and glass that characterised the Art Nouveau period. The Tiffany lamp at the Fair is a superb and very rare 1930’s replica, will be on sale from Paul Burnett Antiques for £35,000. Original examples now sell for upwards of £60,000.
With specialist dealers from across the country, there are prices from less than £25 to more than £25,000. Among the many regular exhibitors will be W.R.Harvey Antiques specialising in period furniture, who promise a superb pair of mahogany and upholstered leather armchairs dating from the Regency period and made by the famous company of Gillows. They are priced at £25,000 and described as one of the most impressive articles of English furniture to be seen at the Cotswolds Fair for many years.
Organised by Sue Ede, well-known from the Bath Decorative Antiques Fair and the famous Shepton Flea at the Bath & West Showground, she says, “This is one of our longest-established events. First run in 1989 and every year since then, appealing to collectors and home decorators across the region.”
The fair takes place in Westonbirt School’s grand hall, Orangery and adjoining rooms. Also showing will be Jo Brayshaw with decorative lighting, glass, ceramics and furniture; Brian Ashbee & Wesley Wotruba specialising in 19th and 20th century furniture and objets d’art; and Scandinavian by Design with Mid-Century Modern furniture and lighting.
