Vintage Louis Vuitton luggage in Somerset sale
Just in the time for this year’s summer holidays, a remarkable collection of vintage Louis Vuitton luggage looks set to be snapped up at auction in Somerset.
Lawrences of Crewkerne will be selling the luggage from the celebrated French designer in its Collectors and Sporting Auction sale on May 17.
Simon Jones of Lawrences, commented, “These items date from between the Wars and include two large steamer trunks, two large suitcases, and four smaller cases including some in plain leather.”
The cases have been consigned from a private collection in Somerset and all the luggage comes complete with interior trays and labels. Incredibly, each case still has its original key (in some cases two keys). Estimates will range from £300-£3000, with each item being sold as an individual lot.
Simon added, “We have sold a number of vintage Louis Vuitton cases over the years and they have always done extremely well in auction. But to have eight pieces of luggage from the same collection is very unusual and should attract a huge amount of interest from collectors.”
About Louis Vuitton
The Louis Vuitton brand was established in 1854 in Paris and by 1913 the firm had a retail shop on the Champs Elysees and added further shops in New York, London and elsewhere. They developed trunks that were able to be stacked, they were lightweight, airtight and high quality and the label became a byword for dependable, timeless elegance and refinement.
